Original drawing depicting an intimate scene in a funeral parlour between a woman and a pious man, captivated by the relentless charm of the young widow.
I had wanted to depict a scene like this for a long time, excited by the idea of mixing sex and death in an amoral debauchery, defying the social conventions associated with such a situation, which normally calls for mourning, contemplation and respect. Two individuals give in to their sexual urges in a situation where they should be repressing and suppressing them. Thus, the woman, burning with desire, becomes a temptress, leading the pious man astray and using him to achieve her ends.
